Making Hand Dyed Yarn & Handwoven Silk Wool(Jamdani)

Description

The art of Ajrakh is a distinguishable form of woodblock printing that traces its origins in the Indus valley civilization. The name of this art has been derived from the Arabic word Azrakh, meaning 'indigo' or 'blue'. The predominant use of the Ajrakh color can be seen all over this exquisite piece crafted in a remote village of the Kutch region in Gujarat.

The artisan has hand-printed the delicate khadi work motifs using fine flakes of mica. A brass block was joined with an identical block of carved wood which was filled with Rogan, a thick paste used to stamp the patterns on the handwoven silk. Morocco is a beguiling land full of myths and fairy tales, all that magic has been captured by us and sprinkled on this exquisite handmade stole, replete with interesting patterns and details. Wrap it around your shoulders to experience the grandeur and rich textile traditions of the royal courts of Morocco.
