Making Handweaving (Jamdani), Hand Embroidery (Sequin Work)
Description
The art of weaving is mentioned in one of the oldest known texts written in an enigmatic language, a collection of tantric songs known as the Charyapadas. It is here described as an act of love, and the loom and the yarn denote mystical concepts.
Woven on a traditional pit loom using the discontinuous weft technique, the jamdani textile is mesmerizingly beautiful and highly breathable. It was during the reign of the Mughal emperor Akbar that the art blossomed to its fullest. This fabulously rich piece has woven striped borders strewn with sequin work stars. It exudes grandeur and sophistication, that took more than two months to achieve. You can also wrap it around your face to protect and enhance your look. This exquisitely textured wool silk stole is a must-have in your wardrobe.
