Making Handwoven Silk (Jamdani), Hand Dyed Yarn
Description
The magical yarn for this piece has been soaked in a mystical river, before being wound on the frame of a pit loom. The traditional weaving process is done using a discontinuous weft technique.
A fine-toothed reed comb helps to keep the desired separation between the fine warp threads. The geometric patterns are woven using heavier threads on a lighter, translucent backdrop of fabric. The word 'Jamdani' is derived from a Persian word, where 'Jam' means floral and 'Dani' means vase. The weaver has woven a beautiful story on silk, the kind that cannot be put into words. This striking piece is a must-have in your wardrobe.
