An exotic art
The fragrance of wild roses wafted through the courtyard. The old workshop opened its doors to a treasure trove of Chikankari. It is a centuries old technique of artfully done embroidery.
Traditionally, it was done using white yarn on delicate muslin. During the late 17th century, this exotic embroidery rivalled the most delicately crafted laces of Europe. The intricate needle-work brings to life, blooming flowers and leaves. The basic stitches that have been used to create magic are tepchi, phanda, jaali, bakhia and murri. The woven checks highlight the sheer beauty of chikankari to perfection. This stunning wrap is a pure labour of love, and deserves a special place in your wardrobe.
