The art of kalamkari painting involves twenty-three tedious steps. It traces its origins to the days of yore, when musicians and painters travelled from one village to another to tell stories of Hindu mythology. They used bolts of fabric to illustrate their accounts using a tamarind kalam and natural dyes.

The exquisite kalamkari patterns were created in Shrikalahasti, a remote village of Andhra Pradesh. Rabari embroidery was done by an old woman artisan of Gujarat. Her eyes twinkled each time she lifted her eyes from her work and looked at her grandchildren playing in the old courtyard. A mix of vibrant colors and embroidery, rich aesthetics and an eye for detail is a trademark of the Kutch region. The complete process of creating and sewing together the kalamkari silk and rabari wool panels took more than two months. This luxe wool-silk stole is a must-have in your wardrobe.
