Opulence

The history of these opulent pieces goes back centuries, to the times of royalty. During the reign of emperor Akbar, a pair of chand-dar shawls were gifted as part of khil'at ceremony to honour the courtiers.

Wool is obtained from the fleece of goats living in the high-altitude region of Ladakh, it is soaked in a mixture of rice and water to attain an incredible softness. This timeless cream shawl has finely embroidered borders consisting of rows of boteh motifs filled with exquisitely shaded leaves, buds and spring flowers. The curved teardrop shaped boteh has travelled across continents and cultures and is commonly known as the paisley motif.
