Description
For the Rabari community living in the Kutch region of Gujarat, the connection with embroidery begins right from birth. During the naming ceremony, the little baby is kept in a swinging cradle known as the ghodiyu. It is decorated with a piece of fabric, intricately embellished with mirror-work.
The exquisite needlework on this handmade wool silk shawl would infuse your life with exuberant colors. In these overwhelming times, the womenfolk of the community pick up their needle and thread to embroider hope on colorful fabric, the smile on their weary faces inspires endlessly. The layout of the bandhani and silk panels is simply breathtaking, more than two months of hard work has gone into the creation of the piece. In the midst of winter, wrap yourself in this song of the desert for a feeling beyond words.
